Have you ever dared to dream a dream so big that it seems unattainable? Well, we did exactly that years ago when we decided we wanted to move closer to the magic. Maybe you have been with us from the beginning in our very first post “Dreams Can Come True” or got to know us in “Why Operation Dole Whip?”. Whatever the case, we’re so glad you are here to share in the big news. We are moving to Florida, very close to Walt Disney World, in just 18 days! Just like the song says, “Nothing can stop us now!”. We promised in the beginning to share all the fun, fears and the finale with you. Well, here we go…..
We will be moving down to Florida on July 15. We will have two vehicles and have enlisted the help of my sister and nephew. Our plan is to make the trip in two and a half days, putting our arrival on the 17th. In the beginning, we will be in a rental in the Champions Gate area while we look for a home. We did make the decision to sell a lot of our furnishings and belongings so we will be shopping for new furniture and some household items.
While we definitely have Disney on the brain, we don’t have any immediate plans to visit the theme parks. The decision was made to hold out until Disney resumes selling Annual Passes again. Our plan is to enjoy visits to Disney Springs and do some resort hopping. We have a brunch reservation for the newly reopened ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and a dinner at Olivia’s in Old Key West Resort. There are so many other non-park adventures we have planned, like a Skyliner crawl and a Resort Monorail crawl. Rumor has it that annual passes will be for sale again in August, so hopefully we will be in the parks soon. We are so excited to be there for the upcoming 50th Anniversary celebration!
We want to start by saying that we are so very grateful for this opportunity and we don’t take it lightly. Making a move like this is no small feat and if it is also a dream of yours, you may feel like it cannot happen for you. But we are here to tell you that it can! It does require sacrifice and compromise many people may not be willing to make. We have an entire section in our blog devoted to Moving to Disney, but the rules apply to any major move.
