With the recent announcement of the re-theming of Splash Mountain to The Princess and the Frog, merchandise for the attraction is flying off the shelves! There is very little left in the Briar Patch, leaving guests no other choice but to duke it out on ebay and other sites. There is still a lot of great merchandise for sale out there, but it isn’t cheap. We are avid pin collectors and we observed open edition “rack” pins that cost $10-12 being sold for amounts upward of $100 or more. The recently released 30th Anniversary WDI (Walt Disney Imagineering) profiles were being grabbed up at $200-300 a piece and a 30th Anniversary jumbo pin sold for $495 within the first hour of the announcement! Luckily for us, Splash Mountain is one of our main collections so we were able to skip the frenzy. We’ll be hanging on to our collection as memorabilia for one of our favorite attractions.
Another “hot ticket” item that is getting a lot of attention is the 30th Anniversary Splash Mountain Funko Pop! set. The going rate for this trio is $200 or more! This is an item I had been wanting to purchase for a while, but with prices so high now I will most likely pass on it. We will be on the lookout for a good deal in the future.
So what should you do if you missed out on those Splash Mountain souvenirs? There are still several options out there if you know where to look. Small Shops are getting in on the action too. Etsy is full of Splash Mountain artwork, fantasy pins, buttons, tees and much more. Another great site for some “satisfactual” gems is redbubble. With the initial shock of the announcement gone, things have started to settle down a bit. While prices are still high on sites like ebay, there are still deals to be found. So be patient and wait. If Splash Mountain has taught us anything, it’s that “what goes up, must come down”!
