The Covid-19 pandemic resulted in many closures and cancellations for Disney in 2020. One of those was Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Even with the positive changes we have seen in the parks in 2021, we will still not see the return of MNSSHP. Instead, a new frightfully fun event is coming to Magic Kingdom this Fall. Disney After Hours Boo Bash will take place on select nights from August 10 thru October 31.
Disney After Hours Boo Bash takes place from 9 pm-12 am or 9:30 pm-12:30 am on select dates. Ticket holders will be admitted to Magic Kingdom park as early as 7:00 PM on the date of their ticket, which gives them even more time to enjoy park favorites before the event begins! Tickets do not require an additional day theme park ticket or Disney Park Pass theme park reservation. Admission to Disney After Hours Boo Bash can be purchased online for $129 to $199 per adult or child, depending on the event date. Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members can take advantage of a $10 discount on event dates in August and September.
So, what can guests expect from this new after hours event? Special Halloween décor, lighting and music set the tone for a not so spooky good time. In addition to the devilish decorations, you’ll find many Disney Characters in full Halloween attire. Look for themed lighting that casts Cinderella Castle in a spectral glow. All this plus the Halloween-themed music throughout the park ensures a frightfully fun night!
Sticking to Magic Kingdom’s current practice, this event will feature themed cavalcades in place of a parade. Mickey’s Happy Halloween Cavalcade with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto and pals dressed in their Halloween costumes. Disney Villain Halloween Cavalcade features a legion of villains unleashed to revel in this sinister season. Gaston leads the way, followed by Dr. Facilier, the Queen of Hearts and Jafar. Jack’s Nightmare Cavalcade is a procession worthy of the Pumpkin King! Jack Skellington, along with Sally and Oogie Boogie from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas take to the streets. Maleficent will also make an appearance in the form of a fire-breathing dragon!
Enjoy other character sightings across the park. Be on the lookout for Goofy, Chip ‘n’ Dale, Foulfellow and Gideon. Miss Carlotta, Miss Renatta and Broome the Butler will make appearances at the Haunted Mansion. And be sure to catch the Cadaver Dans as they make a special comeback appearance. These spooky songsters emerge from their tombs for a cappella performances.
Spend less time in line and enjoy shorter waits at over 20 Magic Kingdom attractions. Disney After Hours Boo Bash lets a limited number of guests experience the park for an additional 3 hours after it closes. That means less waiting in line at popular experiences like Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain! Some of the attractions open during the event include:
- Dumbo the Flying Elephant
- Jungle Cruise
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
- Haunted Mansion
- Peter Pan’s Flight
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
- Space Mountain
You’re sure to have a sweet night when you satisfy your sweet tooth with trick or treating throughout the park. Allergy-free options are available. In the midst of all the fun and festivities, take time to refuel with ice cream novelties, popcorn and select beverages. All are included with the cost of the event and available at carts stationed throughout the park.
In addition, you can purchase select menu items at several of the park’s dine-in locations. Enjoy festive food and beverages, available for purchase throughout the night. Scare up an appetite with Apple Ginger Dale Frozen Drink, Frozen Apple Cider mixed with Ginger Ale topped with Whipped Cream, and Foolish Mortal Funnel Cake.
Let Disney PhotoPass service capture your memories during the event. Your photos will be adorned with special effects to make hauntingly happy Halloween keepsakes. You can also add a sprinkle of pixie dust by taking a Magic Shot, which adds Disney Characters to your Disney PhotoPass photos after they’ve been taken.
Things may not be back to normal yet, but we think the Boo Bash is going to get guests into the Halloween spirit! What do you think about this ticketed event?
