Spring time at Walt Disney World brings the EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival, Spring Break and colorful merchandise all around. The weather gets warmer and we can shed the jackets and hats. It is a time to celebrate the flowers and birds. It is also a time to start getting ready for one of our favorite events in the parks, Dapper Day! Spring Dapper Day at Disney is so much fun because everyone goes all out with color and you see some of the most unique outfits. This is a great event to showcase your Disneybound outfits. You don’t need the official Dapper Day as a reason to dress up, so start planning those vibrant ensembles now.
Dapper Day at Walt Disney World will have two outing dates this year. Saturday, April 24 is the park outing to Magic Kingdom park and Sunday, April 25 is the park outing to EPCOT. Remember that this year a theme park reservation will be required for entry and attendees will be required to wear a mask. It was recently announced that California theme parks may open at 15% capacity starting April 1. We are waiting for more details from Disney regarding parks and hotels in relation to the planned date of Sunday, April 11 at Disneyland. We assume park reservation and mask requirements will be similar to those of Walt Disney World.
It’s hard to think of Spring and not think nautical. Fleet Week for naval sailors is in the spring and it is a popular season for cruises. This Disneybound could be Disney Cruiseline, Yacht Club or even patriotic. Navy and white are the base and then accessories with red, anchors, sailboats and more finish this classic look.
“My head’s a carousel of pictures, and the spinning never stops.” There is nothing quite so whimsical as a carousel. Cotton candy colors and fancy horses paired with music, yes please! A soft stripe starts as your base and then add those cotton candy colors. Pair it with whimsical accessories. You have the perfect Carousel Disneybound that also works for a Boardwalk bound.
Was there ever any doubt that a Dole Whip Disneybound was coming? This is a fun one during Spring and Summer because of the vibrant color combination. A bottom in yellow or pineapple print and a green top is the base. It’s pretty easy to find pineapple accessories.
Changes are coming to the Jungle Cruise attraction and Trader Sam will be no more. It seemed only fitting to pay homage to him with a Disneybound look. And yes, that is an actual shrunken head purse! The red and white stripes are inspired by Sam’s skirt, as well as the canopies on the boats.
If you don’t know about Orange Bird, read our Character Spotlight on Orange Bird post. The sunny fellow with an orange for a head and green leaves for wings hangs out all day at the Sunshine Tree Terrace in Adventureland. He makes us so happy, we had to give him a shoutout! The basics for this Disneybound will be orange and green with accents of yellow.
Get your fascinators ready! Dapper Day will have a POP-UP SHOP at the Flower and Garden Festival from April 19th through April 26th. You’ll be able to find them in a cabana by the Germany Pavilion to see all of their dapper designs in person! We love to see small businesses show off their goods at Disney World, and when we see all of Dapper Day’s stuff in person, we’ll let you know what’s there and where exactly to find it so you can look your ’50s finest! Looking at the dates, this shop will be open prior to and during the Dapper Day Outing dates at Walt Disney World. There is plenty of time to pick up something to wear in time for the big event!
We sure hope we have inspired you to make your own Disneybound outfits! We use a site called ShopLook or Canva to create “mood boards” of the ideas we have. Then we search local thrift shops, stores and online to find what we need to bring the ideas to life. If you can’t get out to the parks for Dapper Day, you can follow along on their Facebook page. If you would like to see more of our Disneybound and Dapper Day ideas, follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see new looks. You can also read our past posts about Disneybound and Dapper day on our Disney Style page. Keep stylin’!
